Hi,

So you see making money on the internet, at home in a 'home-based-business' the ideal way for you? Being an affiliate for a merchant can be very lucrative, they say its all in the testing and trialing of products, keywords, advertisements, landing pages and merchants. Its a big subject - I thought Id just have a word about merchants here.

Look at what they pay you. I’ve had sales on commissions by using pay per click search engines (namely Google) of as little as $18 but, fortunately, I now know of a merchant who pays a whopping $100.00! Which one do you think, given equal costs, will net you a income? Sure, the first product is so much cheaper, but given your bourgeoning skills; your hunger for commissions (and success) AND the penultimate amount of internet traffic, I think price does matter. There are other considerations.

These include the confidence you have in their 'landing page' the page that will sell for you (or not), the amount of time your 'cookie' will operate for you. It needs to be several months or even 365 days. Is it a product you think will appeal - pricewise, functionality wise, support wise and so on.

Don't necessarily opt in for the most functional product when your intuition tells you most are only 'average Joes only wanting the basics'. Why? Because it will be probably expensive and may not sell, or else may only sell to corporate clients, who tend to be few on the ground.

Your best move is to firstly, just do as I do, purchase a likely product you may wish to advertise and gain commissions from as an affiliate. Then, if it is a good product, sign up as an affiliate and write articles as often as possible ie once a day or more.

It’s a little like saving for your superannuation. Put away 10% FROM THE BEGINNING of your working (or business life) and they say you’ll soon be well and truly on your way to being wealthy.

With sale conversions and the free traffic you get from blogging and making yourself known to the world – a small investment of time writing your articles will make a huge difference to your sales and lead conversions. Thats it ! The basic mechanics of it. Not quite .. here's another tip for you.

Look for a friendly, generous and comprehensive merchant website – one that you can visit and learn a few things each time. If the merchant seems like a pretty open and transparent sort of person and seems to want you there and for you to succeed...

Sure they make a killing from your efforts – we all know that – but some do it more ‘nicely’ and professionally than others.

That’s what you want in a merchant – it’s your business after all and you want it to be pleasant. You, in fact want to make ‘Easy’ not ‘Hard’ sales. So don’t pick one that makes you feel like it’s a struggle or that you’re not worth their effort to make a user-friendly site for you.

Look for those prompt, friendly and encouraging emails. Look for the great converting website that’s easy to navigate and thinks of everything – even if you don’t. That’s their job afterall. Yours is to make use of their well presented and reliable information. Its a marriage made in heaven!

So if the merchant has done everything possible to make it happen for YOU. You need to know the information they’re offering, because it’s probably darn good. In Howard’s site (below) and Adwatcher you get examples you can pick up on relating to emails, pay-per-click and quite a few other areas - ie $$$.

Want an overview of their products? No problem. You won’t go wrong with their ‘how to’ articles either – especially how to advertise for free. Just what the affiliate (ie You) need to know for their business.

So what are you going to do next? How about getting out a notebook and making a list of the tips you’re finding here and elsewhere. Don’t depend too much on your brain right?

Then get to know the products these websites are selling. Knowledge is King, not too many others do it, so you’ll be ahead of the game if you do-something! You don’t have to be a Charles Dickens to get yourself read or noticed, let your copy shine through.

Success will be yours, just keep those articles and ppc ads flowing and look for those commissions. Let the power of the internet do the rest and these wonderful websites. Success flows through.
